After the first battles of 1940, Italian Military Command received some peculiar reports; Greek soldiers with a strange appearance, fearless in battle, impetuous and unaffected by gun fire. The designation "Diaboli Maledetti!" (Cursed Devils!) was mentioned on more than one occasion.
In 1937, with the clouds of war hovering above Europe once again, an extraordinary secret meeting is held somewhere in Athens. King George, John Metaxas, Constantine Karatheodoris (distinguished mathematician, physicist and archaeologist), and General Alexandros Papatakis are present. The topic at hand – the lack of reserves as well as the expected high rate of casualties during frontline operations in the event of war.
In order to secure supremacy and based on the experiences of the Balkan wars, they decide to re-ignite the secret "Lazarus I" program. This foretells the creation - with the help of science - of an "indestructible" army of resurrected men, who under the guidance of the spiritualist Angelos Tanagras will be transformed into war machines, who will obediently carry out their orders, ruthlessly slaughtering the enemy.
